Dive Academy RIB

Dive boat Diving RIB To dive the dive sites in the south of the island we have our own Lomac 7. 5m Zodiac. It is the best way to make this dives, which are only a short distance from the Dive Centre as we are located in the centre of the dive sites. We can leave the harbour and be at the dive site in no more than 10 minutes. Then there is plenty of room to kit up, which we will help you with, then backward roll into the water. We normally make our descents on the Anker line to make it real easy. This way if you have a problem on the way down, you are not just in the middle of nowhere! Then to get back onto the boat we have a ladder at the stern. With a little help this is the perfect way back onto the boat! We also have drift lines out incase you need them.
We load and unload the equipment and guests in the fishing village of Arguineguin. This makes it very easy and there is no swim out from the shore to get to the boat, like at other dive centers.

We normally make 2 dives a day from the boat and between the dives we return to the harbor. A surface interval of no less than 1 hour is then taken, when our guests get the opportunity to have there dinner and a drink. This also means we are not bobbing about on the surface during the surface interval, as this can upset the best sea fairing stomachs. We have found in our experience that the large boats and day boats are not suitable for diving here in Gran Canaria, as we do have an amount of swell through out the year and this type of boat are more likely to rock around in the surge.

Dive boat Diving RIB There is always plenty to drink on the boat and it is always kept in the cooler box to keep them nice a cool. There is a small charge for the cans of coke cola, coke cola light, fanta orange, and 7 up. If these drinks are not to your liking, we can arrange to have other drinks on the boat.

Description of the boat

A Zodiac is a ridge bottom boat with inflatable sides called sponsons. These are where our guests sit when we are moving. There are also ropes on all sides to hold onto and an equipment rack in the centre to hold all the equipment.

It has a very wide hull to allow for great working area whilst kitting up. There is enough room for 12 passengers, but to give us a little more room, we normally take a maximum of 10.

It is powered by a V6 250hp Mercury Optimax 250XS Outboard engine, see as well our engine page.

The boat also has Garmin G. P. S. and fish finders onboard, so it there is no guess work that we find the dive sites every time and there is no long wait, before getting in the boat before the boat is in position. We also have a VHF radio for an emergencies.

The boat is also equipped with everything we may need in the event of an emergency. There are life jackets for all the passengers and two first aid bags. In these bags we have the necessary equipment to handle any medical emergency that may arise. We also carry emergency oxygen in the event that it is required. It is always ready for us and just requires the user to turn it on and place the mask over the patients face. In case of emergency whilst on the boat, we have an Emergency Action plan which is at the front of the Dive Site guides. It has all the information needed in the event of an Emergency.

The boat is a fun place to make some truly amazing dives here in the south of the island!!
